Consultation feedback
What we heard
People strongly supported making Market Square safer and more comfortable, especially around crossing points, evening lighting and seating. Businesses asked for clear servicing arrangements and event organisers wanted improved power and water access.
What changed
The revised design adds two wider pedestrian crossings, moves loading bays closer to side streets, increases seating near the market canopy and keeps a larger clear area for civic events.
What happens next
The final design will be considered by the council in March 2026. The Statement of Community Involvement will accompany the decision report and remain available publicly.
